Festivals in Bageshwar

Uttaryani Fair
Every year Uttaryani Fair is organised on the occasion of Makar Sankranti ( Janurary 14th). The fair attracts huge crowds of devotees, as this place believed to be as pious as a holy dip in the Ganges at Varanasi. The confluence of rivers Saryu, Gomti & Bhagirathi have been regarded as a sacred place of pilgrimage for ages. More than 50,000 devouts bathe in this holy confluence on the occassion of Uttarayani festival.

Kartik Purnima
This fair is held on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Kartik.
Dussehera Fair Organised by the local people this 10 day long fair is held during the Dussehera.


Shivratri Fair
Held on the occassion of Shiva Chaturdashi. This fair attracts a huge crowd of devotees to offer prayers at the ancient Shiva temple situated in the midst of the town.

Ghughutee
Also known as Kale Kauwa festival this festivals is celebrated on the occasion of Uttaraini in the month of January .it is celebrated byt he whole Kumaoni people and on this day the sun enters into the tropic of Capricona Special cokeey are mand of flour which is kneaded with Gud and then forming a figure of a particular sign.,Ghuguti ,the puding is made and then strung into rosary.

Bikhauti
This old festival is celebrated in this region with great warmth .Kumaoni folks and songs are sung with the rythem of musical instrument called Hurka and people dance. Fishing and other programmes are held on this day.

Harela
The festival is celebrated during the month of July and Aug. on the occasion of Sharvan.This festival is held to celebratde the coming of corp seasion when seeds and small plant are spruted in the soil.
