Nainital

Nainital is one of the most beautiful gift Which mother nature has given to Uttaranchal in the Himalayan region This place is blessed with scenic natural splendor and varied natural resources. Having more than seven or eight big lakes lakes, Nainital is also called the Lake District of India.


The most prominent of the lakes is Naini lake surrounded by hills from all the sides. Some famous places in this district are Nainital, Corbet Park, Ramnagar, Bhowali, Ramgarh, Mukteshwar, Haldwani, Kaladhungi, Bhimtal, Saattal and Naukuchiatal. Nainital's picturesque beauty and splendure climate is a perfect place for romance with awe-inspiring and pristine Mother nature. Nainital is set in two parts, Tallital and Mallital, with the lake separating them. Mallital is the southern side of the lake, while Tallital consists of the northern upper reaches. The town was destroyed during the Landslip of 1880, and later rebuilt by the British. It is renowned for its lake, bird's-eye views, and prestigous educational institutions.

The Naini Lake
The name of the lake is derived from the Naina tample which is situated on the bank of this beautiful lake .It is said that the is made by the three great sages; Atri, Pulastya and Pulaha .The Naini Lake is also mentioned in the Skanda Purana as the Tririshi Sarovar.The lake is a famous for it's cool and green water.Although the lake is no longer as clean as it use to be but still it attaracts lakhs of tourist in every season.

Vasantotsavor means spring festival which is held every year at Ramnagar during the month of Jan-Feb. The event reflects cultural activities of both Kumaon and Garhwal.region of uttaranchal and there is a stiff competition among the participents .A large number of local artist ,people and tourists, including a good number of foreigners participate in the festival at Ramnagar which is near by the world famous Jim Corbett Park, the wildlife sanctuary of Uttar- Pradesh.

Haldwani

Haldwani gatway to the himalayas is one of the biggest business center of Uttaranchal . In ancient period, Haldwani was known as Halduvani. the name was derived after the tree name "Haldu" which were found in abundance here. In 1815, after the Britishers defeated Gorkhas, Gardner was appointed as the Commissioner of Kumaon. Later on Gerorge William Trail took over as Commissioner. Naukuchiyatal

Naukuchiyatal is located 26 kms from Nainital. This famous nine cornered lake is considered auspicious because the Pandavas are supposed to have bathed here. History
The first recorded discovery goes back to the year 1841 when Mr. P. Barron of Shahajahanpur was so moved by the scenic splendor of the place that he had a house constructed by the name "Pilgrim Cottage and gradually a township sprung up around the lake. But there are other stories about it's origin and establishment.
Nainital was the summer capital of Utter Pradesh during the British Empire in India and later it is converted to the Governor's Office and House.
