History Of Uttaranchal
The history of state Uttaranchal goes back to the early years of the 20th century when political and social awareness started among the people of this region to over come from poverty and backwardness after 1910.
In 1938 Pandit J.L.Nehru said that the people of this region need special rights to taketheir decision under special circumstances of this region.
After 1979 the human movement started when a new political party called "Uttaranchal Kranti Dal"came into existence but it took a new turn in the year 1994 when the than state chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav passed reservation quota bill for the minorities.The movement spread over in the whole Uttaranchal region with in a very short period time and every youth,old aged man ,woman and child took active part in it.
Gangotri

The shrine of Gangotri is situated at an elevation of 3048 mts. amidst captivating surroundings. Gangotri is located at an distance of 99 kms. from Uttarkashi. The temple, constructed by the Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the 18th century, is situated on the left bank of Bhagirathi. It is visited by lakhs of pilgrims every year. A number of Ashrams are located on the other side, some of which provide accommodation facilities to the visitors.
